Our story

Strength for life.
No judgment.

Forge started in a half-empty warehouse with a handful of barbells and one stubborn belief: that a serious gym doesn't have to be intimidating. Hundreds of members later, that's still the whole point.

Founder's story

Why Coach Marcus built Forge

Marcus Reed spent a decade coaching in big-box gyms where the people who needed help most were the ones quietly slipping out the side door. Beginners felt judged. Members got handed a key fob and zero guidance. The strong got stronger and everyone else got lost.

He was convinced it didn't have to be that way. So in 2019 he signed a lease on a gritty brick mill in the Manchester Millyard, painted the floor, racked the bars, and opened the doors with one promise: every single person who walks in gets coached, gets welcomed, and gets stronger. No matter where they're starting.

That promise is still the whole business. Forge isn't the biggest gym in Manchester and never tried to be. It's the one where the coach knows your name, the crew knows your goals, and "all levels welcome" isn't marketing. It's the rule.

Sleek modern gym interior with hexagon LED lighting, racks and machines, dark walls with red accents: the Forge Athletic training floor.

Premium racks, calibrated plates, turf and rigs. Clean and open 24/7 for members.

Gym philosophy

What we stand for

Four ideas shape every class we run and every person we coach.

Strength for life

We train for the decades ahead, not a single beach season. Capable bodies that hold up.

Community over ego

Leave the posturing at the door. The strongest rooms are the most welcoming ones.

Coaching, not just access

Anyone can rent you a treadmill. We coach movement, effort, and consistency.

Progress you can measure

Real programming, real numbers. We'd rather show you results than promise them.

The coaches

The people on the floor

Certified, experienced, and genuinely in your corner. These are the folks who'll learn your name on day one.

The community

More than a place to work out

Members swap PRs in the group chat, show up to each other's first competitions, and grab tacos after Saturday conditioning. The training is the reason people join. The people are the reason they stay.

  • Monthly socials. Cookouts, hikes, and the occasional friendly throwdown.
  • Member challenges. Seasonal goals that pull the whole gym together.
  • Beginner on-ramps. A built-in crew of people who started exactly where you are.
